BY SCRIPTURE

We live guided by the Bible because it is the Word of God.

We want to be a church that is saturated in the word—where our lives are directly affected by what the Bible says. The word is central in our worship, our ministry, and our daily lives.
Colossians 3:16 2 Timothy 3:16-17 Hebrews 4:12
WITH LOVE

We walk together with love because Christ first loved us.

The Bible says if we do great works for Christ without love, we are nothing. As a church we strive to live with love not just in word but in action. Opening homes, sharing food , bearing one another's burdens, and meeting each other’s needs.
1 John 4:19 Romans 12:9-12 1 Corinthians 13 Galatians 6:2
IN CHRIST

We find our hope and life in Jesus Christ.

Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” As a church we want Christ to be the source of our vibrance and life and we want to live fruitful lives through him.
John 15:1-17

FAQ

The word "Reformed" in our name refers to the historic Biblical principles recovered by the Church in the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century. These principles are often expressed by what has come to be known as the "Five Solas":
  • Salvation by grace alone (sola gratia)
  • Through faith alone (sola fide)
  • In Christ alone (solus Christus)
  • As revealed in Scripture alone (sola scriptura)
  • To the glory of God alone (soli Deo gloria)

"Presbyterian" is the form of church government which we practice. Each congregation is overseen by elected and ordained elders (or "presbyters," from the Greek word for elder, presbuteros). The elders of a congregation are collectively called a Session, all the Sessions in a geographic area form a Presbytery, and all our Presbyteries form what is called a Synod. MRPC is under the oversight of the Midwest Presbytery, which includes congregations in Kansas, Colorado, Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wyoming.

You will notice a wide variety of apparel at our church some more formal some fairly casual. Please wear what allows you to be comfortable and focused on worship.

We seek to follow a biblical model for worship, carefully including only the elements that Scripture directly commands (often called the "Regulative Principle of Worship"). Since the Psalms are divinely inspired and given for worship, we believe they offer a perfect and complete expression of praise to God. The Psalms not only beautifully capture the fullness of human emotion and experience, but connect us with our Jesus Christ who took those very words on his lips.

We recognize that instruments were used in Old Testament worship, particularly in the temple, as part of the ceremonial practices under the old covenant. However, we believe that with the coming of Christ and the establishment of the new covenant, the ceremonial aspects of worship, including the use of instruments, have been fulfilled and set aside. In the New Testament, worship is described as being centered on the singing of praises, without any mention of instruments. By following this pattern, we seek to honor the simplicity and spiritual focus of New Testament worship, lifting our voices in pure, undistracted praise to God.

Because we take seriously the call to diligently examine ourselves (1 Corinthians 11:23-32), MRPC practices “session-controlled” communion. To prevent individuals from eating and drinking judgment on themselves, we want to make sure that those who join with us in communion are baptized members of the visible church with a personal faith in Jesus Christ. If you have not communed with us before and would like to join us, please speak to one of the elders. We’d be happy to take a few minutes as a session to meet with you! If have not communed with us before and are not able to meet with the session, we ask that you refrain from partaking.

Our pastor preaches from the New King James version and we have several pew Bibles in that version available. However, you are welcome to bring whatever version you would like.'

Yes! We believe that children are a blessing from the Lord and we welcome them in our worship services. We have a nursery space with toys and audio from the worship service available for parents to take restless children if necessary.
